Artificer Subclass: Counterfeiter

Hard work does not always equal honest work. Nor does cleverness always equal originality. Some artificers have decided to focus their efforts on more lucrative skills, learning how easiest to find the most valuable items and how best to duplicate them for profit.

3rd Disguise Self, Illusory Script
5th Detect Thoughts, Nystals Magic Aura
9th Feign Death, Nondetection
13th Fabricate, Leomund’s Secret Chest
17th Creation, Seeming

Tool Proficiency. When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the forgery kit. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice.

Rapid Reproduction. You have a keen eye for detail and can take note of any features of an item you have on hand or have studied for an hour.

At 3rd level you can conduct an hour-long ritual that crafts a nonmagical item. The creation is completed at the end of the hour, coalescing in an unoccupied space of your choice on a surface within 5 feet of you; worth less than 100gp.
As part of this ritual, you must lay out material, which can include coins, with a value equal to the creation; based on the worth of the material needed rather than the value of the item. The material irretrievably coalesces and transforms into the creation at the ritual’s end.

Arcane Auditor. Also, a 3rd level you can cast detect magic a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier per long rest.

Synthetic Component. During a short or long rest, you can imbue an object with the same arcane signature as a component of monetary value; worth 10 x Your Artificer level in Gold Pieces. You must name what spell the component is for when you start to make it, and as such, this cannot be used for any other spell.
The item is imbued with this signature until it is either used as part of the spell or until you use this feature again.
The imbued item can be used by anyone who can cast the specified spell.

Copy Caster. At 9th level your merging of magic and mimicry have made you able to replicate spells you have seen on the battlefield. On your turn you may cast a spell someone else has cast, so long as it was done so between now and the end of your previous turn. However, you must have the spell slots available to expend to use this feature, and you cannot cast it at any other level other than the level it was originally cast at.

Infusion Imitation. When you reach 15th level you are now able to change out your infusions on a short rest as well as a long rest. In addition, when you spend a short or long rest with a magical item that is on one of the replicable magic items table, or is of common or uncommon value, you may switch out one of your infusions known for the replicate magic item infusion of that magic item.
