Genasi Expansion

While already greatly influenced by the genie heritage and power, Genasi can study and focus on both the bloodline that connects them to it, as well as the plane that gives it life. They may wish to take a racial feat to express that. Alternatively, they may come across a magic item linked to their elemental plane or their genie birthright.

Lineage Feats
Reactive Spark
Prerequisite: Fire Genasi
You are more in touch with the plane of fire than most Fire Genasi, as a result you can cast Hellish Rebuke at 1st level at will. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

 Earthly Defenses
Prerequisite: Earth Genasi
Your skin not only looks like stone, steel, or whatever part of the ground you have decided, it has taken upon its durability. As such you gain a +1 to you armor class and can cast the Stoneskin Spell once per day without material components. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Ebb and Flow
Prerequisite: Water Genasi
Your affinity for the water, its gentle ripples, and terrifying waves, its ability to move and change has become a part of you. You gain a +5 to your swim speed and you can now make an hour-long effect caused by your Shape Water cantrip permanent by spending a minute focusing on it.

Words on the Wind
Prerequisite: Air Genasi
You have become the element of air that graces your lineage, as such you are able to use it to carry your words further than most mortals. You now learn the Message cantrip with you can cast without material or somatic components. You are also able to cast Sending once per day. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for both of these spells.

Bend Fate
Prerequisite: Genasi
You are connected to forces with the ability to warp the worlds of others at the behest of a few small words. You have learnt how to do something subtler but still powerful and gain the following benefits:
  • Your Constitution increases by 1.
  • When a skill check, attack roll, or saving throw of a nearby creature has failed, you can change it to a success. You must both decide to let this happen without knowing the consequences, after doing this you gain a point of exhaustion and cannot use this ability again until completing a long rest.
Note to the Game Master
For those looking at the Bend Fate feat and immediately going, hell no, imagining how it is going to be used to break social encounters. The feat only allows them to pass, not critically succeed, it does not mean that npcs lose all common sense.

Wonderous Items

The trinkets below have no given description; however, this could be decided by using the trinket roll table, or using a few suggestions given below based on the four elements.

- A smooth stone that glows softly at dusk and dawn.
- A charred twig that still feels hot to the touch.
- A small vial of water that looks as if it has a whirlpool in the center.
- A set of panpipes that quietly play without use.

Trinket of Planar Protection
Wonderous Item, common (requires attunement by a Genasi)
With this trinket on your person you can connect further with your elemental plane. You gain reduction to a specific type of damage based on your Genasi subrace, this reduction is based on your proficiency bonus.
Fire – Fire Damage
Earth – Non-Magical Bludgeoning Damage
Water – Acid Damage
Air – Force Damage

Trinket of Elemental Chaos
Wonderous Item, common (requires a Genasi to be using it)
You innate link to one elemental plane has seeped into the three others, creating a tumultuous aura around you when you exert yourself. Once per short or long rest, when you cast a spell, or roll a weapon attack, you may choose to roll on the elemental table below.
1 – A flurry of wind surrounds you, until you click your heels or take a short of long rest, you hover 1ft off the ground.
2 – Flashes of harmless sparks spread from your hands; this continues until you clap your hands to put it out.
3 – The earth rumbles and shakes around you, this lasts for the next minute.

4 – Any water within a 60ft area of you begin to bubble without the temperature of it changing, this lasts for the next hour

Trinket of the Genie
Wonderous Item, common (requires attunement by a Genasi)
While you take a long rest, you can spend 10 minutes of your time to meditate and concentrate on your inner magic. When you do this, you gain a mote of power. You may spend this mote to add 1d4 to an attack or damage roll, making that one attack count as magical damage for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. Once it is expended you must complete another long rest to recharge it.
