Legacy Kenku Expansion
Cursed for generations for crimes done long ago, the
kenku have proved resilient and astute in the face of adversity. Despite losing
perhaps one of their biggest advantages against the rest of the world they have
continued on, with most honing their natural skills of mimicry and empathy to
make their mark on the world.
Lineage Feats
Cursed Words
Prerequisite:
Kenku
Your lineage was cursed, flightless and mute, and you
carry that magic with you always. You, however, have learned how to pass that
misery on to others, and with careful study do it with ease. Once per long rest
you are able to cast Bestow Curse at 3rd level, in addition if you have
studied the voice of your target for 1 minute uninterrupted, they have
disadvantage on the save.
Grounded
Prerequisite:
Kenku
The kenku’s ability for flight was taken away, and
while some kenku’s are able to give up their dreams of the souring others grow
resentful of the ability of others. Focusing your spite into magic you have
gained the ability to drag others down, you can now cast Earthbind at
2nd level at will.
Wordless Understanding
Prerequisite:
Kenku
Having to rely on the words of others to make your
point understood you have formed a greater understanding of others in return. When
you are listening to someone you now do not need to share a language to
understand what is being inferred, instead by simply paying full attention to
the creature for a minute you are able to get a basic grasp of what is being
communicated.
An Eye for Shiny
Prerequisite: Kenku
Despite it being the cause of the kenku’s curse, most
kenku have never given up their knack for determining the most precious thing
in the room at any given time. You’ve
honed this ability more than most however, giving you the following benefits:
·
Increase
you Intelligence by 1
·
You gain
proficiency in one artisan tool of your choice.
·
When you
make an investigation or perception check to discover loot you are also able to
determine the most valuable object there.
Unique Items
While most find it difficult to create new things, it
does still happen, and more often than not created for the purposes of trickery
or communication. In kenku communities these sorts of items are also the ones
that tend to be most valued, along with those that grant flight.
Feather of False Flying
Wonderous item, rare (requires attunement)
A beautiful feather that if drops always hovers gently
above the ground without landing. When attuned to this item you can cast levitate
at will and without using your concentration.
Curse. While attuned this feather you cannot fly, hover, or
have your falling speed slowed in any way. If you fall from a height where you
would incur damage you take the max amount rather than rolling.
Mood Stone
Wonderous item, uncommon
While holding this stone your main emotional state is
projected onto it in the form of various colours as shown on the table below.
Red – Anger
Pink –
Excitement
Purple – Fear
Blue –
Sadness
Green – Happiness
Yellow – Contentment
Glider
Vehicle, rare
One of the few known instances of a kenku creating
something unique, this creation allows the user to move across a great distance
by slowly moving through the air. It does require the user to start from a high
altitude, at least 100 feet up, and is very flimsy if hit by bad weather or any
form of arial attack.
Glider
Cost: 1500gp
Speed: 90ft
Crew: 1
Passengers: 0
Cargo: 10lb
Weight: 100lb
AC: 10
HP: 25
Amulet of Magical Voice
Amulet, very rare (requires a kenku to use it)
While wearing this magical amulet you are able to
forgo mimicry and talk in your own, magically created, voice.
Canvas of Copying
Wonderous item, uncommon (requires a kenku or someone
with the keen mind feat to use it)
When you first get this, it is a small, framed canvas
around the size of your hand, however after focusing on this canvas for 10
minutes you can exactly replicate any piece of art you have seen in the past month.
The size of this magical item changing to match the size of the original.
With a successful investigation check against either 13
or your class save DC, if one exists, the illusory magic can be perceived
without using magic to detect it.
