Homebakery's Bestiary: Cakestructs

A creation conjured from the mixing of fey fruit and normal cake, these chaotic constructs have no desire other than to cause mischief. This meddlesome ingredient is not something easily avoided however, even for the most careful of bakers. As the fruit does not come from a specific plant, and therefore can look like anything. Simply from growing in the fey realms it gains this potential, which is, for unknown reasons, released when brought together with baked goods.

Appearance

Cakestructs vary in both size and appearance, due to the fact much of the visual makeup comes from the cake they have taken over. One common feature they all share, when moving around, is their legs made of dripping jam.  As it through this common filling that they are usually created.

Story Hooks
  •
  • A mischievous pixie who takes a prank too far, endangering the neighbourhood.
  • The city post office mixes up its deliveries, setting off chaos across all the local bakeries. The party arrive just in the thick of it.
  •  An archfey with much darker plans, uses these constructs to distract the town and the party from their real target.
  • A city holiday features a very lucrative baking competition, one of the competitors spikes the competition to ensure their victory.

Tactics

Cakestructs are creatures without reason or self-preservation, they destroy and attack whatever they can, once they have broken out of their disguise. Using up all patience they had to wait until something moves within their vicinity.
