Paladin Subclass: Oath of Constellations

Some people find the size of the world frightening, its vastness a sign that those within it do not mean much. You are confident that is not the case, for the world could not be so large, without the smaller things it’s built upon. Like the constellations in the night sky. They could not exist without the individual stars within.

Tenets Of Constellation

The tenets of the Oath of Constellations keeps in mind the details within a bigger picture. After all, one could not exist without the other.

Connection.  Individually we shine but together we are transcendent.

Cosmos. Never forget you are part of something bigger. Do not fear it.

Individual. The universe is made of single people. Never consider someone unimportant.

Astral Aura

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you can channel the stars. As an action, you can activate your astral order, forming threads of light between you and any ally within 10 feet of you. This then continues on these allies until the aura ends, so long as they remain within 100ft. of you.

When you activate this ability, choose one of the benefits below, you and everyone effected gains these benefits for 1 minute or until you activate this aura again.

Chalice. While affected by the Astral Aura, your cup overflows with holy magic. Any healing gained that goes over your maximum hit points is converted into temporarily hit points.  These last until they are replaced or until you complete a rest.

Lion. While the Astral Aura is affecting you, you are imbued with the strength of a mighty hunter. Once per turn when you make an attack roll, you can use force the creature to succeed on a contested strength against your attack roll. On a failure they are knocked prone.

Warrior. While affected by the Astral Aura, you are aided by the fallen soldiers who watch from above. You can add 1d4 to any attack rolls made. In addition, after making a weapon attack, you also can also use your bonus action to add 1d4 to your AC for every attack roll made.

You can use your Astral Aura a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Celestial Navigation

Starting at 3rd level you are able to navigate easily by starlight. You gain proficiency in Navigators Tools and Survival. In addition, so long as you have a clear night sky, you always know which way is north.

Channel Divinity

At 7th level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Dark Nebula.

As a bonus action, specs of void begin to spread out from you, covering your form in a hazy darkness until the start of your next turn.

When a creature hits you with an attack, while this is around, they must succeed a Constitution saving throw. On a failure they are blinded until the end of their next turn.

Cosmic Fate.

As an action you can cast Augury as a 2nd level spell, without needing the material components. However, it gains the following additions:

  •  The spell limitation of 30 minutes is increased to 1 hour.
  •  Regardless of the result, using this Channel Divinity allows to you make 1 reroll of an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check within the next hour.

·        If you use this channel divinity at night, the DM is able to give you a constellation you can see to aid in your prediction. This can be as simple as a dog, or as complicated as the star crossed lovers Astra and Vanya.

Shifting Sky

Starting at 15th level, when you expend a spell slot you can change the constellation of your astral aura.

Startouched Step

Also at 15th level, your movement becomes softer, graced by the night. You are no longer able to have disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks, and while it is night, you can add your proficiency bonus to any Dexterity (Stealth) checks. You may do this, even if you are already proficient.

Celestial Form

At 20th level, you become attuned to the night sky, and take on a cosmic appearance to match. For example, your skin could look like a living star chart, your eyes like flaring comets, or your hair becomes a galaxy.

Using your action, or as part of the same action when you activate your astral aura, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • Your spell Save DC is increased by 1.
  • When you roll radiant damage, you can treat any 1 on a damage die as a 2.
  • For every die of radiant damage rolled you gain 1hp, as does every ally within 5ft. of you.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot to use it again.
