Wizard Subclass: School of Gifts

Magic is often a selfish endeavour. A journey for power or knowledge that can quickly become destructive and empty. Created by the powerful wizard Drosselmeyer, the school of gifts focuses a wizard's talents on aiding those around them, bequeathing additional rewards when casting their spells upon others, and sharing the wonder of spellcraft.

After all what’s the point of magic if it can’t be shared?

Present Surprise

Also at 2nd level, when you can a single target spell on an ally, other than yourself, they gain an additional benefit, roll d6 on the gift table, and they gain that benefit.

At 8th level this die increases to a d8, a d10 at level 12 and a d12 at level 16.

8

The spell you cast is treated as if you cast it one level higher. If this allows it to target an additional creature, the creature must still meet the requirements of the spell.

9

As a reaction when the spell is cast, the target of the spell may choose to turn invisible. This lasts until the end of the target's next turn, or until they deal damage, whichever comes first.

10

Until the end of your next turn, the target of the spell is immune to either fire, cold, acid or lightning damage, your choice when you give them this benefit.

11

For the next minute, the target of the spell may add 1d4 to any saving throws they make. In addition, they may use their reaction to add 1d4 to their AC as well during this time.

12

For the next minute, if the target of the spell is reduced to 0 hit points they are instead reduced to 1.

Ribbon Ability

Starting at 2nd level you gain the prestidigitation cantrip to your spellbook. In addition, whenever you use this cantrip to clean something or someone you may add a pretty ribbon or bow to it. This disappears after an hour.

If you are using the optional rules mentioned in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, the prestidigitation spell is unable to be swapped out when taking completing a long rest.

At 6th level, when you cast a single target spell on yourself you may roll on the gifts table and gain that benefit.

Surprising Luck

At 10th level you gain more control over what gift you give someone. When you roll on the gift table you can roll the die twice and choose which benefit you want to give them.

Share the Joy

14th when you cast a single target spell on an ally you can target an additional creature, both creatures gain the benefit of the gift table.
